Wedding speeches at Halfmoon farm rutland

Halfmoon Farm Tipi Wedding

Jaz & Tom’s Halfmoon Farm Wedding

I first met Jaz and Tom way back in 2023 and I knew from the second I met them that I was going to love them.

I hadn’t photographed a wedding at Halfmoon Farm before although I had been a guest at my friends wedding so I was stupidly excited when they said that was where they were planning to get married.

The photos are so beautiful

Jaz and Tom met in 2014 at the young farmers AGM in Skegness on what I am told was a boozy weekend away. Tom must have done something right because fast forward to 2022 and a beachfront on Fiji he proposed to Jaz to a solid YES and the rest as they say is history.

For those not in the know, Halfmoon Farm is set in my very own home county of Rutland on the Hambleton Peninsula. The Ceremony itself was in the beautiful Owston Church, it was one of those Goldilocks summer days, not too hot, not too cold just perfect! They managed to have their speeches outside in front of the tipi (technically a Sailcloth tent) which was another first for me but has left me wishing every single wedding did it that way, the only caveat being that it must be a warm day.

The wedding morning

I started my day off with Jaz and her ladies in a cottage that they had rented for getting ready in – genius idea! Jaz’s reaction to seeing her hair and makeup all together for the first time is one that will live rent free in my brain forever more (scroll to the bottom to get the hair and makeup artists details).

Now we all know that on the wedding morning it is tradition for the couple to get a small gift for the other to open. Well Tom well and truly wins the prize for the best and most thoughtful gifts ever given, not only did he give Jaz the cutest box of goodies including things like fluffy socks so her feet didn’t get cold, a mug showing her upgrade from girlfriend to fiancée to wife, he also presented her with a keyring with her new surname on it. Now you may be thinking, great a keyring, very cute but what’s the big deal, well this keyring came with the paperwork for a personalised numberplate that Tom had bought for Jaz in 2022 and he had kept it quiet right up until their wedding day!

Summer garden styling and red arrows

Bright Summer and traditional garden style was the goal for this wedding at Halfmoon Farm and I think they hit the brief. With the team from Mother Daughter Flower Co on board along with Sami tipi it was true summer styling perfection with bud vases dotted along the long trestle tables, candlesticks and trees surrounding the pillars inside it really was breathtakingly beautiful and yet wonderfully simple.

Now I knew we would be in for a treat when it came to the couples portraits given the location and I wasn’t wrong but I was not ready for the red arrows to do a cheeky fly over right when we were out taking them, thank goodness I reacted quickly enough and managed to get them flying overhead.

This wedding really did tick all of my happy dance boxes, from an incredible couple, a stunning venue, sunshine, the best guests, a dancefloor of dreams, including ripped trousers and the Goat of mobile bars. More like this please!!
