“Will and I are going ahead with our wedding. Not to sound cliche and all, but….we just want to get married to each other now :)”

These are words directly from Will and Lorena when we chatted a few months ahead of their intended wedding date. They had already had to move it once from its original October date. I remember thinking way back in March of 2020 how ludicrous it felt for us all to be thinking weddings might not be going ahead by October, and yet here we are in July of 2021 still waiting for the restrictions to be fully lifted.

Keeping the June wedding date did mean that many of Lorena’s overseas family were not able to attend which I know hit hard, especially on the day itself with tears being shed, but there were so many beautiful surprises from guests near and far that helped ease this a little and Lorena and Wills wedding at the Richmond Hill Hotel was absolutely beautiful.

Now Lorena is Italian/American so it goes without saying that she would have pasta for her pre-wedding meal. Here is her wonderful mum cooking up a feast for her.

Anyone who knows me will know I am a Daddy’s girl so this moment is always one of my highlights on a wedding day. The moment a father see’s his little girl in her wedding dress for the very first time.

As many of the family couldn’t travel over for the wedding from America due to the current travel restrictions, Lorena and her family had a video call before leaving for the church. It was so incredible to see the connection they so clearly shared.

At this exact moment, Lorena exclaims; “it’s in my dress it’s in my dress”. Confetti gets everywhere ladies, consider yourself warned.

If we have time after all of the more formal group shots are taken I love to have a bit of fun with the bridal party. I make sure I capture a ‘nice’ image of each member of the bridal party and then we throw some poses. I love seeing how much effort some people put into their poses, it’s always such a laugh.

This is one of the lovely surprises I eluded to earlier. Some family members over in America arranged for champagne to be sent to the table to toast the newlyweds. You can see the emotion on their faces so clearly when they realised what was going on. This was a wedding where tissues were needed for sure!

Dad’s speech included a slideshow filled with images and videos of Lorena growing up and some handily passed on images of William too. There were also speeches from the two Best Men, the chief Bridesmaid, and the couple themselves. Emotions were flying high and there wasn’t one googled section of the speech in there anywhere.

Dancefloors are still not allowed under current restrictions but first dances are back!! And William and Lorena did not disappoint, neither did the father-daughter dance which was truly one of the best I have ever seen. These dances were perfectly fit for the Richmond Hill Hotel Ballroom.

Followed closely by one final surprise. The family had arranged for a whole host of video messages from family near and far. Seeing these messages and how close the family is really showed just how much more EPIC a wedding this would have been had it been restriction-free. That being said, this was a truly beautiful wedding and I am so pleased William and Lorena didn’t have to wait another year to tie the knot.
