On Saturday I woke up bright and early to meet Kate and Richard for their pre wedding photo shoot in Black Park in Slough. Having never been there before Kate and Richard were kind enough to take pity on me and met me at a nearby petrol station so I could follow them to a nearby parking area as the park wasn’t yet open.
I knew from our Skype call a month or so ago that we would all get along well and I wasn’t wrong. I love pre wedding sessions as it gives us such a good opportunity to get to know each other before the wedding, I even got to meet their little dog Alfie who joined us for the photo shoot and proved to be very much the diva and provided us with a lot of entertainment.
Our morning wasn’t as colorful as we had hoped it would be as the weather had taken a turn and it was so foggy but wow was Black Park beautiful! I am not often out this early but it was truly spectacular to see the sunrise in such a stunning location.
We started off at the lake as the sun was coming up and worked our way around some Kate and Richards favourite locations throughout the morning. Alfie was very excited to be there as Kate and Richard often take him there for his walk, I imagine the squirrels had something to do with his added excitement.
This beautiful spot is only somewhere you would find if you knew the park well. This is why I always ask my couples to choose the location for their pre wedding photo shoots as it is an area that means something to them and they will have favorite places to go that we would otherwise miss.
We then moved on and thought we might attempt to let little Alfie off the lead and try and get him to run to me. As you can see from my little set of images below this did not quite go to plan!! Que 10 minutes of looking for Alfie and a photographer panicking at the thought of loosing her couples beloved dog – let’s just say no more dogs will be let off leads for a photo again.
Once Kate and Richard had had their workout for the day running around and had managed to find Alfie safe and sound we continued with the shoot. Whilst they were catching their breath I took a few images of Alfie – what a beautiful little man he is.
Black Park has so many different and amazing areas for photos. There was a Park Run on on Saturday morning so we set up the picnic blanket nearby and gave them both a minute to sit down. I love it when my couples bring props like this it make the sessions so much more fun.
Before long it was time to move on to our last location of the morning on our way back to the cars. We were very pleased to have made it to the end of the session without even a hint of rain – another fantastic reason for starting the shoot so early.
Kate and Richard I am really looking forward to your wedding – bring on the 28th December!! Have a fantastic Christmas xx

With summer on it’s way I think it is high time we look back on this cheeky little Tipi wedding at Bawdon Lodge Farm from last year. This wedding was a turning point for me. It cemented my love of Tipi Weddings (thanks Sami Tipi), It cemented the fact that EVERY wedding should in fact have a dog present and it cemented my new found love for the team at Bawdon Lodge farm #teambawdon.read more
