Another Brief Introduction Welcome to the second instalment of the Wedding Planning Tips saga. For those lucky enough not to be aware of Part 1; it happened in blog post far far away; where topics such as Budgets, Guest Lists & Save The Dates were discussed. For...read more
I First met Ash and Ruta on a Sunny evening in June this year. I knew immediately that theirs was going to be a wedding I would remember. The way they look at each other, and how they naturally are so at ease together, always giggling and making jokes was so wonderful to see and their wedding day was no different.
The day began at the Richmond Hill Hotel with Ruta and her mum being made over by the wonderful ladies from DK Beauty London. The Richmond Hill hotel is set, exactly where you likely think it is, right near Richmond Park in London. It was a beautiful setting with a wonderful autumnal scene just a stones throw from the front of the hotel, and even better, my handy app told me the sun would set later that day right behind those beautiful trees.
I always plan to arrive at prep at the same time as the make-up artists and then take a moment to wonder around the venue to get my bearings before heading on up to the room to take photos with the bride. We were blessed with a little extra time for Ruta as the wedding wasn’t until 3pm so I had the luxury of having a little extra time to capture some bridal portraits of her before the ceremony!
I also had a chance to pop down and see the reception room, I was incredibly impressed that although it was only about 12:00 when I went downstairs that the staff at The Richmond Hill Hotel had already set the room up, the florists ‘The perfect Piece‘ had already been and all I had to do was switch the lights on. It really was a beautiful setting and the floral centrepieces added the wow factor. Plus as a girl who loves any excuse for fairy lights this was a dream come true to photograph!
The wedding ceremony took place at the beautiful Lovekyn Chapel. I am always amazed at these hidden little gems all over London. A cosy wedding chapel with a garden out the back which the guests were able to have champagne in before leaving to go back to the reception later. Did I mention there was a dog at the ceremony too!
The Ceremony was short but perfect. Ruta was walked down the aisle by her mum and I just love the look her mum is giving her as she places her hand in to Ash’s.
Ash and Ruta had arranged a bus to bring everyone from the chapel to the Richmond Hill Hotel so I ran over to grab them all from the bus and get a group photo before they headed in for warmth and a little more champagne. After a little break to mingle with their guests we just about had time to catch the sunset before the wedding breakfast began. And of course Benjie had to join in for some photos too.
And to finish the evening we had the cake cutting and first dance. I only realised once I had left that I had failed to try any of the cake (How am I meant to blog an awesome review about the cake without trying it) but it did look incredible and how cute are those toppers!
Thank you Ash and Ruta for being such an incredible couple. I absolutely loved photographing your wedding, you and your families made Tom and I feel so welcome and I can’t wait to share the full gallery with you. Hopefully this helps with the wait though. Have a fantastic honeymoon. xx
