Another Brief Introduction Welcome to the second instalment of the Wedding Planning Tips saga. For those lucky enough not to be aware of Part 1; it happened in blog post far far away; where topics such as Budgets, Guest Lists & Save The Dates were discussed. For...read more
Wednesday 28th December saw the wedding of Kate and Richard at Christ Church in Radlett followed by a reception at the Porters Park Golf Club in Radlett where Kate’s father is a member.
I already knew we were going to have a fantastic day as I had photographed Kate and Richard’s engagement session earlier last month and we had so much fun (lost dog going unmentioned of course).
On arrival at Kate’s parents house I was greeted by a sense of calm generally unknown in the wedding world, Kate was all smiles as she and her bridesmaids were preened and pampered, champagne was toasted and the call to drink water every 10 minutes was heard (an early new years resolution I believe). A shout out goes to Kate’s Dad Ian for making me the most superb cups of coffee – he knows the way to my photographers heart !
The house looked absoloutley beautiful still full of Christmas decorations and fairy lights, with the most perfect window and ceiling light I could have asked for.
Kate had surprised her bridesmaids with these cosy robes to wear whilst getting ready – what a fantastic idea! – They are from Next (I will correct this if I am wrong) if anyone is looking for them for their own wedding.
Richard was over at the Laura Ashley hotel the morning of the wedding which is just around the corner from Porters Park. He was with his Best Man Spencer and Groomsmen Steve and Jason. This is one of the reasons I LOVE having a second photographer working with me on the wedding day, it means my brides and grooms get to see both sides of the wedding morning.
My role as a wedding photographer often involves assisting with many other aspects of the wedding day. I have been known to sew a brides top strap, give lifts to guests from hotels to ceremony locations, helped styling hair, deciding on bridesmaids shoes, fixing ties, and of course fixing the gents buttonholes.
In this case I was in charge of taking the buttonholes to Richard and his groomsmen and fixing them before the bride arrived. I have never worked faster in my life but fear not I was outside in time for Kate’s arrival.
Kate walked down the aisle with her father Ian. The ceremony was a very moving one with tears on both sides, happy of course. Kate and Richard were married at Christ Church in Radlett.
Kate and Richard held their wedding reception at Porters Park Golf Club in Radlett. It was beautifully decorated with Christmassy decorations, accompanied by little touches from the bride and groom. They had a FANTASTIC MC, I think every wedding should have one of these he helped everything run so smoothly and assisted in getting all of the guests back out in to the cold for the group shots – no mean feat with the weather we had on Wednesday – beautiful but very very cold.
At this point I will give a shout out to the Bridesmaids Jo, Lucy and Emma. You were nothing short of amazing. Always making sure Kate and Richard had everything they needed, staying with us to hold kates dress and protect it from the ground when we were taking the couples portraits and providing Kate and Richard with champagne and canapes so they didn’t miss out. If every bride had bridesmaids like you ladies they would be very very lucky indeed.
After the speeches and Cake cutting had taken place we took Kate and Richard back outside for a few more photos. It was so cold at this point that the glasses that had been left outside had frozen to the tables. Bori (My awesome second photographer) and I made sure we set the shots up first though so they weren’t outside for long.
Before long the first dance was upon us. After a certain amount of spins had taken place Kate and Richard invited their guests to join them on the dance floor and the night began!
Kate and Richard. Thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer it was truly an honor. I have loved meeting you and your families and capturing this very special day.
I would like to wish you the happiest of lives together. Seeing you together I know you have found your perfect other half, you make each other whole and share such a wonderful closeness. Keep making each other smile and the rest will follow.
Congratulations to you both – and Happy Birthday to Alfie 🙂
I First met Ash and Ruta on a Sunny evening in June this year. I knew immediately that theirs was going to be a wedding I would remember. The way they look at each other, and how they naturally are so at ease together, always giggling and making jokes was so wonderful to see and their wedding day was no different.read more
